Silverfish

silverfish2

Silverfish are nocturnal insects, wingless and typically 13-30mm long. Their abdomens taper at the end giving them a fish-like appearance. They feed on books, dead skin cells and other starchy materials and thrive in dark, wet spaces.

A silverfish presence is revealed by small spots of excrement that look like black pepper. Small holes and yellowish stains on clothing, wallpaper, cereal boxes and other cardboard or fabric materials also indicate a presence.
